The support policy of Odoo has been adjusted. Previously, only the three most recent versions received official Enterprise support, but this is now being extended to 6 years. Last summer, Odoo announced this change, and starting in April 2026, it will actually be noticeable in practice. Therefore, a reminder: if you are still running on Odoo 16 or older, these changes may soon have a financial impact.
In this blog, we clearly outline what this means for your Odoo version and your upgrade planning.
Longer support, more peace
Odoo Enterprise now offers support for all versions of Odoo. Versions will no longer automatically lose support after three years. This is beneficial for organizations that do not want (or cannot) upgrade every two or three years.
What does this mean concretely?
✔ Your Odoo version can be supported for up to 6 years on Odoo.sh.
✔ You will continue to be entitled to support, bug fixes, upgrades, and security updates
✔ Are you using a version that is older than 3 major releases? Then a surcharge of 25% applies to the annual subscription.
✔ After 6 years, a version on Odoo.sh will be definitively phased out (by October 31 of that year at the latest)
Important to know: even if your Odoo version itself does not change, the underlying platform (operating system, security layers, infrastructure) remains up-to-date. This makes this model, in a sense, more sustainable and future-proof.
What about that 25% surcharge?
Starting from April 2026, an additional surcharge of 25% will apply to the annual subscription costs for versions that are older than three major releases (for example, Odoo 16 or older, depending on the time).
This surcharge applies to Odoo.sh and On-Premise customers for new or renewed contracts. Odoo Online customers are automatically upgraded periodically and are therefore excluded from this change.
The idea behind this model is actually logical: instead of completely stopping support after three years, Odoo continues to support older versions - but for a small additional fee. This way, as a customer, you have the choice: upgrade on time or pay a little extra for extended support.
You can find the official and current terms here.
Do you need to upgrade right now?
Upgrading has always been a priority at Odoo. It is even included for free in your Enterprise subscription. New versions bring better performance, new features, and a more modern user experience.
At the same time, we understand that a migration can sometimes require a lot of attention and time, especially if there are customizations, integrations, or specific processes in place. Therefore, we advise migrating at most every 2 years. This way, you stay functional, avoid surcharges, and spread the impact.
But every situation is different.
